Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, Mark Ronson and SZA have recorded three songs together

Could an LP be just around the corner?

Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, Mark Ronson and SZA have recorded three new tracks together, it’s been revealed.

Last summer, Parker and Ronson previewed a new song featuring the singer during a DJ set at New York’s Governors Ball festival. It was then confirmed by SZA in October that there was more to the collaboration than just the one track.

“I’m making an album with Tame Impala and Mark Ronson,” she said. “When you try to label it, you remove the option for it to be limitless. It diminishes the music.”

Ronson had previously told told Stereogum he had been working on eight new songs with Parker, but said most didn’t have vocalists attached to them at the time.

Now, in a new interview with SZA in the New York Times, it has been been revealed that the trio already have three songs recorded and ready to go. Though no release date is mentioned, it looks likely that the new song premiered during Ronson and Parker’s DJ set will form part of the upcoming project.

As well as DJing together at several festivals, Ronson and Parker have also collaborated on Ronson’s tracks ‘Daffodils’ and ‘Summer Breaking’, as well as producing Lady Gaga‘s single ‘Perfect Illusion’ together.

Parker is set to return to the stage with Tame Impala this summer, with the band scheduled to play Madrid’s Mad Cool Festival in July. The band are joined on the bill by the likes of Franz Ferdinand, Pearl Jam, Depeche Mode, Kasabian and more.
