Taylor Swift, Calvin Harris beat Beyonce, Jay Z to ‘highest-paid celebrity couple’ title

Swift and Harris have raked in an estimated £93 million between them over the last year

Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris have been named the highest-paid celebrity couple in the world – ahead of Beyonce and Jay Z.

Ahead of its annual Celeb 100 list ranking the highest-earning celebrities in the world, which will be released next Monday (June 29), Forbes has revealed the three celebrity couples who have amassed the most income over the last year. Swift and Harris are estimated to have earned $146 million (£93 million) between them during the last 12 months. Each half of the couple’s individual ncome has yet to be revealed, but both Swift and Harris will place in the Top 20 when the Celeb 100 is announced next week, Forbes teased.

Meanwhile, Beyonce and Jay Z – who were named the highest-paid celebrity couple by Forbes in both 2013 and 2014 – slip to second place with a joint annual income estimated at $110.5 million (£70 million). Country singers Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert are a distant third with an estimated joint annual income of $57 million (£36 million).

Earlier today (June 25) Swift announced that she has reversed her decision not to stream latest album ‘1989’, confirming that upcoming streaming service Apple Music have acquired the record.

Apple recently made a U-turn on their royalty scheme following criticism over the policy of not paying musicians, producers, songwriters or rights holders during its three-month free trial. The company changed their mind after Swift publicly criticised them, and now the singer has done likewise, writing that it “felt right in my gut” to team up with Apple Music.

The singer, known for her savvy business acumen, had previously pulled her blockbuster ‘1989’ album from streaming services like Spotify because of the poor revenue it makes for musicians.
