Taylor Swift tops the iTunes Canada chart with eight seconds of static

It is thought to be taken from the singer's third single from '1989'

Taylor Swift has topped the iTunes Canada chart with a clip of music that comprises eight seconds of static.

Called ‘Track 3’, it is thought to be a snippet from the third single from her forthcoming new album, reports Slate. In the Number Two and Number Three slots are the singer’s previous singles ‘Welcome To New York’ and ‘Shake It Off’. Listen to the ‘noise’ below.

Swift’s new album ‘1989’ will be released on Monday (October 27). She recently spoke out about the “sexist” speculation regarding her love life.

“You’re gonna have people who are gonna say, ‘Oh, she just writes songs about her ex-boyfriends’, and I think frankly that’s a very sexist angle to take. No-one says that about Ed Sheeran, no-one says that about Bruno Mars – they’re all writing songs about their exes, their current girlfriends, their love life… and no-one raises a red flag there,” she told Australia’s 2Day FM.
