The legendary New Yorkers will head to Gateshead, Manchester and London this November
Legendary New Yorkers Television have announced a short, UK headline tour for November.
The band, fronted by Tom Verlaine, will head to the Sage in Gateshead (15) and Manchester Academy 2 (17) before finishing up at London’s Roundhouse (19) on the short, three-date jaunt.
This comes after the announcement that the band would perform their 1977 classic debut ‘Marquee Moon’ in full as part of ATP’s ‘End Of An Era Part 1’ (November 22-24) – the first of the festival’s two closing weekenders, curated by ATP and Primavera festival. The weekend is also set to host performances from the likes of Dinosaur Jr, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Les Savy Fav and Thurston Moore’s new project Chelsea Light Moving. Newer acts such as Forest Swords, Beak> and ex-Yuck frontman Daniel Blumberg’s Hebronix are also set to play.
Television have a long history with the festival, having reunited to play at the 2001 event – traditionally held at Pontins holiday camp in Camber Sands.
ATP, or All Tomorrow’s Parties, has been running since 1999 where it was originally known as the Bowlie weekender and was curated by Belle & Sebastian. Since then, the festival has grown in frequency to run summer and winter weekenders and has been curated by the likes of Pavement, My Bloody Valentine and The Breeders. ATP have also put on London-based sister event, I’ll Be Your Mirror, held at Alexandra Palace, since 2011.
It was announced in April that the festival’s last weekenders would take place this November, with founder Barry Hogan commenting: “The support from the artists and festivalgoers alike has been incredible but it’s time to move on and look towards the future, it may also be time to let Camber Sands rest in peace!”
