World Cup winning footballer THIERRY HENRY is facing a possible ban from football – because he paid tribute to TEXAS singer SHARLEEN SPITERI’s new born baby after scoring a goal for ARSENAL last night (September 10).
Henry, a close friend of Spiteri, had just scored the winner for Arsenal in their 2-1 win over Manchester City when he lifted his top to reveal a T-shirt bearing the message: “For the new born Kyd.” This was a reference to Misty Kyd, the name Spiteri and partner gave their daughter, born just hours before the match.
Football’s world governing body FIFA have banned players from displaying messages on their shirts, leaving Henry to face a possible ban.
Henry’s boss Arsene Wenger said: “They seem to want to ban everything these days, but celebration is part of the sport.”
