Speaking recently to NME.COM about the UK dates, Wilson said: “Performing ‘Smile’ brings back lots of memories for me and I feel like the audience are all my friends, every night.”
He added: “We’re really blowing peoples’ minds. When we get to the encores, I feel like the roof is lifting off the hall and we’re all going to take off.”
The concept album was originally intended for release in 1967, around the same time The Beatles put out ‘Sgt Pepper’. However, Wilson had a breakdown and the album was never finished, giving it almost mythical status amongst fans. A newly recorded version will be released by Nonesuch on September 27.
