EMI sues BlueBeat over Beatles downloads

Site have been offering remastered back catalogue

EMI are suing US website BlueBeat.com after the site began selling downloads of the band’s back catalogue and streaming them free.

BlueBeat was offering albums including the Liverpool band’s recently-released remasters.

However, the Fab Four‘s label, EMI, has now begun legal proceedings at a district court in California claiming a copyright infringement, reports Wired.com.

As of this afternoon (November 4), the downloads were still available on the site, though.

Depsite The Beatles‘ songs not being available as legal downloads, EMI and Apple Corps announced today (November 4) that they are embracing the digital format with the release of an apple-shaped USB stick featuring all the band’s remastered albums.
