Money raised will go to London transport schemes
A road sign taken from London‘s famous Abbey Road – the area that features on the cover of The Beatles‘ classic 1969 album named after the street – is one of 43 set to be auctioned to raise money for transport schemes in the UK capital.
An enamelled steel sign is now set to be put up on the road – with Westminster Council working on a prototype for graffiti-proof signs for future use.
“This is a rare opportunity for someone to own a precious piece of Beatles memorabilia and Westminster history,” councillor Danny Chalkley said.
Abbey Road is also the location of the studio where the album was recorded.
