BEATLES TOP CHART (NOT AGAIN)

Thirty-one years after calling it a day those lovable mop tops finally top the US album of the year chart...

The Beatles have

scored the highest selling US album of the year with their hits collection ‘1’.

Thirty-one years after their split their collection of 27 number one singles

(from both sides of the atlantic – ‘Strawberry Fields’ only scored number two in

the UK) has outsold every other album in the US in the Billboard end of year

charts.

This is the first time the Beatles have topped the

end of year sales chart, their highest previous result was ‘Beatles ’65’ (a US-only

release) which reached number two. The top ten Beatles albums in terms of US total year

sales are :
