Singer pulls out of shows after health worries
Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb has cancelled a series of Brazilian live shows after being admitted to hospital in the UK.
Gibb was set to play shows in cities including Sao Paulo and Brasilia this month, but was taken ill on Sunday (April 4) and treated in a British hospital for abdominal pains, reports BBC News.
“We are not sure what’s wrong with him at this stage and are worried,” a spokesman for Gibb said.
The singer underwent emergency surgery last year and had part of his intestine removed after he suffered stomach pains while performing in Belgium. Although his spokesman confirmed Gibb has been “extremely healthy” since his operation, it’s unclear whether his latest illness is linked to his previous problem.
“We don’t know if it is a recurrence of the previous problem or if it is something else entirely,” his spokesman added.
In 2003 Gibb’s twin brother Maurice died from complications arising from a twisted intestine.
