Liam Gallagher, Duran Duran, Bruno Mars pay tribute to Bee Gees’ Robin Gibb

Singer passed away last night (May 20) at the age of 62

Liam Gallagher, Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears, Duran Duran and Bruno Mars are among those who have paid tribute to The Bee Gees‘ singer Robin Gibb, who died last night (May 20) at the age of 62.

The death of the legendary singer, who had been battling liver and colon cancer in recent years, was confirmed in a statement from his family last night.

Liam Gallagher paid a simple tribute, tweeting: “ROBIN GIBB LEGEND”, while Shears wrote of the singer: “Robin Gibb. You are and forever will be a massive influence and inspiration. Rest in Peace.” He was joined by Duran Duran, who paid their respects by writing: “Sorry to hear about the passing of Robin Gibb of the BeeGees. Our condolences to his friends and family.”

Meanwhile, The Cribs told NME that Gibb and the Bee Gees had been a big influence on their music – scroll down to see the full video interview.

Ash singer Tim Wheeler also joined the tributes, he wrote: “Saddened to hear about Robin Gibb dying, I met him a few years ago and he was a real gentleman.” Bruno Mars also paid homage to Gibb, simply writing: “R.I.P Robin Gibb.”

Bryan Adams also wrote of Gibb, saying: “Robin Gibb RIP. Very sad to hear about yet another great singer dying too young”. Edwyn Collins also offered his sympathies, writing: “Robin Gibb is dead, Poor Guy, ‘The Bee Gees are God, Sorry.”

Dannii Minogue, Nile Rodgers, The Doors and Skunk Anansie are among those who have also paid tribute to the Bee Gees man.
