Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney dislocates shoulder in swimming accident

Drummer was struck by giant wave while on holiday in St Barts

The Black Keys‘ Patrick Carney dislocated his shoulder in a bizarre swimming accident earlier this month (January 3), it has been revealed.

Carney was on holiday on the Caribbean island of St Barts when, according to TMZ, a giant wave slammed him into the ocean floor. Carney was taken to hospital and put under anaesthesia, but has since been released and is recovering from the injury.

He later took to Instagram to discuss the incident, posting a photo with the caption: “Tune into my new lifetime movie. ‘Dislocated shoulder’ airing right now.”

The Black Keys are set to co-headline this year’s Isle Of Wight festival and are also scheduled to play a series of UK arena gigs this February. The band, who released their eighth studio album ‘Turn Blue’ in September last year, will kick off the tour in Manchester at the Phones 4u Arena on February 27 before playing in Birmingham, Glasgow, London and Leeds.
