Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess recently shared a track from his Record Store Day single, which was released last weekend (April 18). Burgess enlisted Factory Floor’s Nik Colk Void to provide backing vocals on the track, ‘Like I Already Do’. It also featured Peter Gordon, who has worked with the likes of Arthur Russell, Laurie Anderson and LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy.

The track was recorded in New York and Burgess told The Quietus that the collaboration came about very naturally. He said: “We were in the studio. I had the song. Nik wanted to show me a vocal idea, Peter loved it and it stayed.”

The Charlatans will play next week’s instalment of Later… with Jools Holland on April 28. They will be joined on by Florence + The Machine, LA trio Mini Mansions, James Taylor, Madisen Ward & The Mama Bear and Andreya Triana.

This week’s episode (April 21) of the BBC Two music variety show featured Mumford & Sons and Noel Gallagher, while last week (April 14) saw Blur perform two new songs.
