Liam Fray bigs up England's striker during afternoon set
The Courteeners helped kick off the third and final day of the Isle Of Wight Festival at lunchtime today (June 13), with frontman Liam Fray dedicating a song to England striker Wayne Rooney.
Fray dedicated ‘Take Over The World’ to Rooney, who plays for Manchester United, the team the singer supports.
Football was somewhat of a theme for Fray‘s weekend, having arrived on site yesterday in time to watch England’s World Cup match against USA in the backstage bar.
The band played a set mainly featuring songs from recent second album ‘Falcon’, including ‘The Opener’ and single ‘You Overdid It Doll’.
The Courteeners played:
‘The Good Times Are Calling’
‘Cross My Heart And Hope To Fly’
‘Scratch Your Name Upon My Lips’
‘Take Over The World’
‘You Overdid It Doll’
‘Not Nineteen Forever’
‘What Took You So Long?’
