Singer and guitarist says the boyband are an "easy target" for criticism
The Cribs‘ Ryan Jarman has come out in support of One Direction.
The boyband, who bagged an NME Award this year for Worst Band, with Harry Styles also picking up Villian Of The Year have come under fire from other artists like Jake Bugg – who said they “must know they’re terrible”.
But Ryan Jarman has now said he doesn’t see the point in picking a fight with the former X Factor runners-up. “It’s a strange fight to pick, for sure, you know, because it seems like a bit of a cheap shot, it seems like an easy target, so it’s not something that I would do,” he told Gigwise.
Jarman also added that he didn’t mind that One Direction were fans of The Cribs, who picked up this years’ Outstanding Contribution to Music gong at the NME Awards. Harry Styles was recently spotted wearing a Cribs T-shirt in the US. “One Direction are fans of The Cribs, so they’re good with me. I think that’s cool,” Jarman said. “The fact that they’re fans, I don’t mind. I don’t know anything about their band but it’s cool by me.”
The Cribs are set to release a career-spanning compilation album ‘Payola’ on March 11.
