The Cure and Major Lazer headlining Bestival 2016

Bestival takes place from September 8-11

The first acts for this year’s Bestival have been announced, with The Cure and Major Lazer headlining.

Bestival takes place in 2016 from September 8-11 at its home on the Isle of Wight.

Alongside the headliners, other artists announced include Animal Collective, Hot Chip, Wolf Alice, Years & Years, Ride, Skepta, Bastille, Craig David, Skepta, Skream, Katy B, MØ and more.

Each year the festivals pick a theme, with this year confirmed as “the future”.

“So, here we go again, but this time we’re going far … far away … into the future,” festival organiser Rob da Bank says in a statement.

“Prepare yourselves for a Bestival unlike any other with futuristic new stages, and as ever it’s a broad church of music from every decade and every genre.”

“We are very very happy to be back at our favourite festival,” The Cure’s frontman Robert Smith said of the news. “We can’t wait to play a special set to show the future IS what it used to be…”

The third headliner is still to be announced.

Last year’s festival saw The Chemical Brothers, Missy Elliott and Duran Duran perform.
