THE DARKNESS TO MISS FESTIVE TOP SPOT?

Singer Justin Hawkins believes in a thing called 'Pop Idol'...

The Darkness won’t make it to the coveted Christmas Number One spot – according to singer JUSTIN HAWKINS.

As previously reported on NME.COM, the group are to release their single ‘Christmas Time (Don’t Let The Bells End)’ on December 15 in their bid for the festive top spot.

However in a recent interview, the singer said that he thinks they’ll be pipped to the post. The current favourites with the bookies are the ‘Pop Idol’ finalists, who will be releasing a cover of John Lennon’s ‘Happy Xmas (War Is Over)’.

“I think next year”, Hawkins told XFM when asked if he would reach Number One. “But I think this year it’s gonna be numéro deux. You mark my words.”

The band will be touring the UK throughout December to promote the single, calling at:

Plymouth Pavilions (December 3)

Bournemouth International Centre (4)

London Brixton Academy (5)

Birmingham Academy (8)

Manchester Apollo (10)
