The stars come out for the re-recording of the charity classic...
The recording of the BAND AID 20 single ’DO THEY KNOW IT’S CHRISTMAS has been completed by a host of stars in LONDON.
Since Friday, artists including Sir Paul McCartney, Chris Martin, Justin Hawkins, Keane and Travis have been in Air Studio re-recording the song which was a hit 20 years ago.
U2 singer Bono was amongst the last musicians to record his part – he’ll be re-recording the legendary line ”Well tonight thank God it’s them, instead of you” to the single, which is out later this month (November 29).
Speaking to BBC News Bob Geldof said that recording the song again brought back memories of two decades ago.
He said: “It takes me back to another nice morning 20 years ago. It doesn’t feel the same because I didn’t know what to anticipate before with all the mayhem and chaos.
“It would be nice to get the same amount of chaos but now people understand clearly what they’re doing and I think that’s the difference.”
Blur’s Damon Albarn turned up to the studio, but only to provide moral support for the people singing – serving tea to those in need of refreshment.
Other artists on the single include Robbie Williams, Dido, Daniel Bedingfield, The Thrills, Busted and Jamelia.
