Reunited rockers will play Thetford Forest next summer
The Darkness have announced a special one-off show for next summer in their home county of Suffolk.
The band, who reunited earlier this year after originally parting company in 2006 and performed a comeback slot at Download Festival, will play a special show in Thetford Forest on July 14. They are the first act to be announced for the Forestry Commission‘s 2012 Forest Tours where acts perform in woodland locations around the UK.
The band’s frontman Justin Hawkins said of the show: “I have often walked through Thetford Forest, enchanted by bird-song, mesmerised by the rhythm of nesting squirrels. My urge to fill the trees with music of my own can no longer be denied. Thetford has provided The Darkness with much enchantment and inspiration over the years. It’s time we gave something bark.”
The band have spent the last six months recording their third studio album and are presently touring the UK. You can watch a video of The Darkness walking onstage at Download Festival by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and clicking.
Tickets go onsale on Friday (November 25) at 9am (GMT). To check the availability of The Darkness tickets and get all the latest listings, go to NME.COM/TICKETS now, or call 0871 230 1094.
