THE DARKNESS RESPOND TO NEW BASSIST REPORTS

So has a replacement for Frankie Poullain has been found?...

The Darkness have distanced themselves from reports they’ve already replaced bassist FRANKIE POULLAIN.

It was announced earlier this week that Poullain will no longer be part of the set-up. A statement claims “musical differences” as the reason.

A tabloid report this morning claims that band employee Richie Edwards will replace Poullain. Not strictly true, claim the band.

Their new statement reads: “Suggestions that a replacement for Frankie has already been appointed are totally premature. Richie Edwards (Dan’s guitar tech, some of you know him as ‘Spider’) has NOT been confirmed as The Darkness‘new bassist.”

However, the band have described Edwards as “a contender”.

The group are currently in the studio working on their second album, the follow-up to 2003 debut ’Permission To Land’.

The new LP is being produced Roy Thomas Baker – most famous for his work with Foreigner, Cheap Trick and The Cars.

As previously reported on NME.COM, The Darkness are currently working in the same studio in which Queen recorded ’Bohemian Rhapsody’.
