The Drums’ Jonathan Pierce: ‘The Smiths should never reform’

Singer also admits that he misses former band member Adam Kessler

The Drums have claimed that The Smiths should never reform.

Singer Jonathan Pierce criticised the recent spate of big band reunions, which have included the likes of The Stone Roses and Happy Mondays, by insisting that “rock’n’roll should be young”.

He told The Daily Record:

I don’t think it’s ever a good idea to do a big reunion sort of thing. Rock’n’roll needs to be young.

Pierce also admitted that he regrets the loss of former guitarist Adam Kessler after publicly lambasting his shock exit from the band in 2010.

The singer added: “We have not spoken since he left the band. I didn’t think I would ever want to speak to him again. But I find myself thinking of him more and more and maybe even missing him a little bit.

“I think if we had the same problems right now as we did then with Adam, we would go about things a little differently. We were so fired up about everything and now we take things slightly less seriously.”

The band recently debuted the video for their new single, ‘Days’. Scroll down and click to watch.
