Band preview album at surprise party appearance

The Drums played a surprise gig in London tonight (May 21).

The New Yorkers made an unscheduled appearance at the Clash party in association with Sailor Jerry at the Barfly in Camden.

Previewing tracks from their self-titled debut album, which is released next month, the band said they were excited to return to the UK.

“We woke up in Paris this morning and here we are in London,” frontman Jonathan Pierce told the crowd. “We’re so happy to be here, we prefer London!”

The group then performed a host of tracks from their debut, including former singles ‘Best Friend’ and ‘Let’s Go Surfing’, which got the packed crowd dancing.

“We’re ready to fall over,” Pierce admitted towards the gig’s climax. “We haven’t slept much in the last few days. Thank you!”
