Venue will anchor new downtown entertainment complex

The Eagles and Dixie Chicks played the opening night of Los Angeles‘ brand new Nokia Theatre yesterday (October 18).

The inaugural show is the first in the bands’ six-night run at the 7,100-seat venue, which many believe will help revitalise LA‘s downtown area.

“What’s going on now [in LA] is very interesting. You’re seeing downtown matter in new ways,” The EaglesDon Henley told the sold-out crowd, who danced throughout both sets.

The Eagles played several classic tracks as well as Henley‘s ‘Boys Of Summer’.

The Dixie Chicks focused on their newest material, including the controversial ‘Not Ready To Make Nice’.

The Nokia Theatre is located next to the Staples Center [home to the Grammy Awards] and will anchor a massive LA Live entertainment centre that will include nightclubs, restaurants, a cinema and a Ritz Carlton Hotel.

Upcoming performances at the Nokia Theatre include Neil Young, Tori Amos and Aretha Franklin.
