Julien Temple directs The Flies’ new video

The man behind 'The Great Rock And Roll Swindle' tackles new band's promo

Cult film director Julien Temple has shot the video for the new single by The Flies.

The man responsible for the recent Joe Strummer movie and the Sex Pistols‘The Great Rock And Roll Swindle’ got behind the camera to film the promo for ‘High’, which is out on September 3.

The video was an endurance test for Flies’ mainman Sean Cook, formerly of Spiritualized and Lupine Howl. He spent over three hours immersed in a 6ft vat of red paint, vegetable oil and cold water.

Emerging from the red mire, Cook appeared to be in the early stages of hypothermia and was rushed to the nearest warm shower.

The band will play a one-off show at London ICA on September 11.
