The Hives speak of album frustrations

'It's like making 'Chinese Democracy'' says Howlin' Pelle Almquvist

The Hives have spoken about the frustrations they’ve encountered trying to release their new album.

The band were speaking to NME.COM from the Benicassim festival in an exclusive video interview.

Singer Howlin’ Pelle Almquvist explained: “Sometimes it feels like we’re making ‘Chinese Democracy’,” referring to the long-delayed Guns N’ Roses album, for which recording began in 1999 and is yet to be completed.

“It was recorded in seven or eight studios, so it’s going to sound different [to previous work],” added drummer Chris Dangerous.
