The Horrors confirm they’ve finished work on new album

Faris Badwan discussed the new LP with Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1

The Horrors have confirmed they have finished work on their new album.

Speaking with Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1 last night (February 10), the band’s frontman Faris Badwan said the group were currently deciding on a font for the sleeve of the follow-up to 2011’s ‘Skying’.

“The record is finished now,” he said. “We’re deciding a running order and the artwork and finally, the hardest thing of all is coming up with the name.” He explained that the album is currently untitled. “It’s a nightmare,” he said of naming the record. “It’s the worst part of being in a band, or at least the most time consuming.”

“I would honestly say it’s my favourite record we’ve done,” he continued. “Because I feel like we finally got close to what we actually wanted from the songs… I’m happy with it, I’m really happy with it.”

Badwan explained that the band will be hitting in the road in support of the record. “As a band we love touring, it’s very much central to our records, we write the songs to be played live,” he said. “So we’re going to be performing as much as we can over the next couple of years.”

Last week The Horrors and Thurston Moore joined forces live onstage to perform a new song. The song, which is currently unnamed, was performed by the two acts at The Fly Awards, which took place at London’s Forum. Speaking to Zane Lowe about the collaboration, Badwan stated that Moore will not be appearing on the track on the new album: “We just thought, ‘who’s the coolest person we could possibly get on this song for the awards’… It was really an honour to play with him,” he said.

Later this month The Horrors will play the inaugural BBC 6 Music festival in Manchester. They appear on a line-up which also includes Damon Albarn, James Blake, The National and Haim.
