The track is the work of elusive production team letthemusicplay
The Horrors’ frontman Faris Badwan has lent his vocals to a new dance track ‘Bright’, by production team letthemusicplay – scroll down to listen.
The euphoric single, which also features additional vocals at the start from an as-yet-unnamed female singer, finds Badwan singing in a deep baritone over synths and a propulsive beat. The track builds with the singer repeating the line “getting brighter” before ascending into a portion of instrumental synth stabs, marking a dramatic departure from anything the Horrors vocalist has previously put his name to.
letthemusic play previously put out ‘Our Town’, with vocals from Kate Tempest, while the single package for ‘Bright’ will also feature remixes by Jakwob and Psychemagik.
The Horrors, meanwhile, recently opened up to NME about their forthcoming new album, disclosing that the record was heading in a more electronic direction than their previous work.
Speaking about the band’s as-yet-untitled fourth album, which is marked for release in April, Rhys Webb explained that the quintet had been, “experimenting with sound processing, sequencers and rhythm.” He added: “We want to make music you can dance to, music that elevates. It feels like the next step to us.”
Badwan is also not the only member of the band to be testing new sonic waters, with synth player Tom Furse recently posting two solo tracks online. ‘Extensions’ and ‘I’m Going To See The Stars (Or What’s Left Of The Stars…)’ are the first solo tracks to come from Furse and were posted onto Soundcloud at the start of this month.
