Emerge NME Radar Tour band get destructive on NME/Radio 1 Stage
The Joy Formidable got destructive during their Leeds Festival slot today (August 28), with frontwoman Ritzy Bryan attempting to destroy one of her guitars.
The Welsh trio, set to play on the Emerge NME Radar Tour next month, played a lunchtime slot in the tent and the blonde singer and guitarist got in the mood for instrument-breaking from the off.
Shortly into opener ‘Whirring’ she began smashing her black guitar against the ground repeatedly, continuing to do so for several minutes as her bandmates played. As the song ended she held up the guitar – still intact but with damage marks and broken strings – to cheers from the crowd.
They went on to play five more songs of their frenetic, proggy indie-rock.
The Joy Formidable played:
‘The Last Drop’
‘The Greatest Light Is The Greatest Shade’
