Band reissue second album for its 10th anniversary

The Killers have reissued their second album ‘Sam’s Town’ for its 10th anniversary. It includes a demo from the period called ‘Peace Of Mind’. Scroll below to listen to that track.

‘Sam’s Town’ was released in October 2006, following on from their 2004 debut ‘Hot Fuss’. NME wrote of the album at the time: “The tunes may be huger, the influences cleverer, the lyrics more adventurous and the band more self-assured, but their primary concern is still being the biggest indie-pop stars on the planet.”

The two-disc vinyl reissue is out today (October 7), featuring remastered recordings of the LP’s original tracks, plus demo ‘Peace Of Mind’ and the Pet Shop Boys remix of ‘Read My Mind’. Find more details here.

The Killers performed tracks from ‘Sam’s Town’ last month (September 30) for the first time in nearly a decade. The band marked its anniversary with two shows at Sam’s Town Hotel And Gambling Hall in Las Vegas.

Meanwhile, The Killers have begun recording their fifth studio album. The Las Vegas band started sessions in their hometown last month (September 9).

Drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr told DIY: “We go into the studio two days from now. On the ninth [September], we start on the ninth.”

He continued: “We’ll see what happens. We’ve been working with different people and seeing how it feels, and we’re starting to work with another person now. I don’t know if we wanna reveal who that is.”

The drummer said he expected the sessions to be “surprising” because “when we get in [the studio] we come at it from one direction, and then it’ll go another direction”.
