The Last Shadow Puppets score UK Number One album

Arctic Monkeys' mainman hits the top slot again

Arctic Monkeys mainman Alex Turner has scored his third UK Number One album tonight (April 27) as his side project The Last Shadow Puppets reached the summit with their debut ‘The Age Of The Understatement’.

It’s the third year running Turner has made the top – in 2006 he got there with the Monkeys‘ debut LP ‘Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not’, while in 2007 the group’s follow-up ‘Favourite Worst Nightmare’ also took pole position.

Turner‘s record with pal Miles Kane of The Rascals took over the Number One position from The Kooks‘ second LP ‘Konk’, which stayed at the top for just a week.

In the singles chart, Madonna is at Number One for a second week running, her Justin Timberlake-assisted effort from new LP ‘Hard Candy’, which is out tomorrow (April 28).

The UK Top Ten singles are:

1. Madonna – ‘4 Minutes’

2. Sam Sparro – ‘Black And Gold’

3. Estelle ft Kanye West – ‘American Boy’

4. Wiley – ‘Wearing My Rolex’

5. September – ‘Cry For You’

6. Flo Rida ft T Pain – ‘Low’

7. Usher ft Young Jeezy – ‘Love In This Club’
