Alex Turner: ‘Playing without the Monkeys felt like having an affair’

The Last Shadow Puppets reveal their secrets

Alex Turner has said making The Last Shadow Puppets‘ album with Miles Kane felt like he was having an affair behind Arctic Monkeys‘ back.

However, the rest of his original band loved the album and ended up getting drunk on red wine while listening to it.

Speaking to NME.COM, Turner explained: “I thought it were going to be like them finding a tape where you’d had an affair. Like your bird found an affair tape and was watching you having sex with another bird…but it weren’t like an affair tape…not that I’ve ever made an affair tape.”

The Arctic Monkeys‘ frontman added that his new collaboration does not mean he’s bored of his old band, saying: “The dominant thing was just wanting to make a record with Miles Kane. I wasn’t trying to fuck [the Monkeys] off at all. I love being in that band and they’re my best mates.”
