Reunited Libertines are in Barcelona where Doherty is currently exhibiting his artwork
It’s the first image of The Libertines frontmen since they announced their reunion earlier this year. Doherty currently has an art exhibition, ‘Flags From The Old Regime’, in the city.
The band announced in April they would reunite for a live show at Hyde Park in London in July and promised there would be warm-up shows in the run-up to the gig, as well as tentative plans to write new material to perform.
The Libertines will headline British Summer Time festival on July 5 on a bill that also includes The Pogues, Spiritualized, Maximo Park and The Enemy. See below for ticket details. Other artists who will perform on the same bill as The Libertines at the open air gig will be Wolf Alice, Swim Deep, Darlia, Reverend & The Makers, I Am Kloot, The View, The Twang and The Rifles.
Rumours about a potential reunion had emerged prior to the announcement after Pete Doherty gave an interview in which he claimed he had been approached with an offer to reunite the band for a live show. Barât subsequently revealed that the chances of the band reuniting were “very much a possibility” and, when pushed for a date on which any live show may take place, added: “keep the 5th July free”. The Libertines last played live together in 2010 at the Reading and Leeds Festivals.
Barât has also announced an intimate show in Reading with his new band The Jackals. The group, who were recruited via Facebook, will play at The Bowery District in Sub89 on May 13 as a warm-up for their London show at XOYO on May 15.
