The Maccabees announce first headline show of 2014

They will play O2 Academy Liverpool on November 18

The Maccabees have announced plans for their first headline gig of 2014.

They will play O2 Academy Liverpool on November 18, with tickets going on sale at 9am on October 3. The band have revealed that they will be playing songs from their forthcoming fourth album during the show, writing on Twitter: “It’ll be a warmup for our UK tour with Kasabian, and also the 1st time we play some new songs from the 4th album which is nearing completion”.

They will tour with Kasabian throughout November and December. Earlier this year, The Maccabees offered an insight into the slow progress they were making on their new album. Chatting about the record – the follow up to 2012’s ‘Given To The Wild’ – to NME, guitarist Felix White said: “We started the record at the beginning of 2013. We went into the studio with the idea that it was going to be finished by now. And we’ve finished two songs. We’ve got a lot of songs but every time you write something new, it raises the standard.”

Frontman Orlando Weeks added: “Because we haven’t really come across the songs that set the tone or mood for this record yet, we’re kind of shooting in the dark. But I like that: there isn’t a specific thing I’m trying to funnel stuff into.”
