The Postal Service to reform for Coachella

A new website appeared for the cult band and hinted at 2013 reunion

The Postal Service are set to reform and play Coachella Valley Festival of Music and Arts in California this April.

The band’s website was updated earlier today (January 21) and the site featured the band’s logo and ‘2013’.

Billboard then went on to confirm that the band would be playing Coachella as well as releasing a deluxe version of the ‘Give Up’ next month.

The Postal Service released their only album, ‘Give Up’, in 2003. A collaborative effort between Benjamin Gibbard of Death Cab For Cutie and Jimmy Tamborello of DNTEL, the pair barely toured their album upon its release but have seen the songs develop a cult status in the 10 years since they called time on the project.

The duo were so called as they used to send their respective parts for each song to one another by post while working on the album from different parts of America. ‘Give Up’ featured songs including their breakout hit, ‘Such Great Heights’.

In November 2012, Gibbard – who released his debut solo LP ‘Former Lives’ last year – claimed there were no plans to make a second album with The Postal Service.

“I think people like the idea of a second Postal Service record better than they would like the second Postal Service record. It’s the desire for something one can’t have, the anticipation of possessing something is more fulfilling than actually having something,” he said.
