CRIME LOW

Only 14 arrests to date as event moves into final day...

Police at the Reading festival are this morning (August 25) reporting very low crime figures with only 14 arrests so far.

Amongst those arrested were four people for suspected assault causing actual bodily harm, four people for drug possession with intent to supply and two for drunk and disorderly.

In total 117 crimes have been reported.

As the event moves into its third and final day, to date there has been no repeat of the serious crime that marred last year’s festival. A 16-year-old girl was raped, allegedly by two men, in her tent last year. Police have also been cracking down on robbery in and around the festival, pushing the crime figures down.

Up to 70,000 people will have attended Reading by the time today’s headliners Prodigy leave the main-stage.
