Jack White returns to Reading Festival with Raconteurs

White plays event for fourth time this decade

The Raconteurs mainman Jack White returned to the Reading Festival for the fourth time this decade with his ‘other’ band tonight (August 23).

White played at the event with The White Stripes in 2002, cancelled a Stripes appearance due to injury in 2003, returned with Meg White to headline in 2004, then headlined the NME/Radio 1 Stage with The Raconteurs in 2006.

But tonight was The Raconteurs‘ debut appearance on the Main Stage at Reading.

The set showcased songs from both of the four-piece’s albums, 2006’s ‘Broken Boy Soldiers’ and this year’s ‘Consolers Of The Lonely’, as it did during the band’s acclaimed performances earlier this summer at Glastonbury and T In The Park.

Highlights included an extended version of 2006 debut single ‘Steady, As She Goes’, with White, as he has done all summer, encouraging the crowd to sing the closing “Are you steady now?” refrain.

The Raconteurs played:

‘Consoler Of The Lonely’

‘Hold Up’

‘You Don’t Understand Me’
