The Rolling Stones’ Ronnie Wood takes the ice bucket challenge

The rock icon is the latest musician to take part in the charity stunt

Ronnie Wood has become the latest musician to take part in the ice bucket challenge to raise awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) – watch footage of it above.

The Rolling Stones guitarist can be seen having ice water thrown over his head, before nominating his son Tyrone, former Faces bandmate Rod Stewart and actor Woody Harrelson.

Over the weekend, Eminem and Rihanna took part in the charity stunt onstage together during their co-headlining ‘Monster Tour’ in Eminem’s home town of Detroit.

Having been nominated by his mentor Dr Dre, Eminem was reminded of the challenge by hype man Denaun ‘Mr’ Porter as he attempted to walk offstage at the end of the show. The rapper then sat in a chair while Rihanna soaked him with ice-cold water.

Eminem quickly laid down his own challenges to Porter, producer Rick Rubin and Rihanna herself. “Detroit, what you think? Should I do it? I’m from the islands; I don’t do this ice shit! This ice shit doesn’t work for me,” asserted the singer before being doused as Eminem’s band played Vanilla Ice’s 1990 hit ‘Ice Ice Baby’.

ALS is a terminal illness that causes muscles to weaken and stiffen. Artists including Liam Gallagher, Arcade Fire, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Lady Gaga, Iggy Azalea, Justin Timberlake and various others – as well as many members of the public – have joined in with the campaign.
