L’Wren Scott’s sister calls Mick Jagger ‘grotesquely disrespectful’ over new alleged lover

"It hasn’t even been three months since [Scott] died," says Jan Shane

The sister of the late L’Wren Scott has called Mick Jagger “grotesquely disrespectful” for flying his alleged new lover, 27-year-old ballerina Melanie Hamrick, to stay with him in Zurich when The Rolling Stones restarted their European tour earlier this month.

Fashion designer Scott took her own life in March of this year, and reportedly left her entire $9m (£5.4m) estate to Jagger, her partner of more than a decade.

Scott’s sister Jan Shane hit out at Jagger in an interview with The Mirror about the singer’s alleged new lover, who he was pictured embracing on a hotel balcony earlier this month. “The more I think about it, the angrier it makes me. My sister deserves more respect,” she said. “It hasn’t even been three months since she died. I now believe that he was a bigger part of her troubles than we knew about.”

Jagger met Hamrick backstage at a gig in Tokyo earlier this year, before Scott’s death. “It doesn’t surprise me at all. I’m just really glad that L’Wren doesn’t have to put up with him any more,” added Shane. “My sister deserved so much more than that. It’s a terrible thing for Mick to have done. It’s sad. His life goes on as if nothing happened. He’s still out with women, but a huge part of our family is missing.”

Scott’s funeral took place in Los Angeles on March 25, where Jagger, his daughters and grandchildren were in attendance. Long-time Rolling Stones backing singer Bernard Fowler performed ‘Will The Circle Be Unbroken’, joined by Dave Stewart on guitar.

L’Wren Scott was found dead in her apartment in New York. It has since been confirmed by a coroner that she committed suicide by hanging. Jagger released a statement following the news and his Rolling Stones bandmates also showed their support for the frontman.
