HUMBUG!

It's only November, but the battle for the number one slot is on, sort of...

Fat Les are taking on the Spice Girls in the battle to become this year’s Christmas Number One – with DES LYNAM joining in as a rank outsider.

The latest odds from bookmakers William Hill place Spice Girls as favourites at 4-7 with new single ‘Goodbye‘, which hits the shops on December 14. Spice Girls have had the last two Christmas Number Ones.

Keith Allen‘s crew meanwhile are currently at 16-1 with their Yuletide anthem ‘Naughty Christmas (Goblin In The Office)‘, which is released on December 7.

Grandstand legend Des Lynam is hoping to climb to the top of the tree with rendition of the Rudyard Kipling poem ‘If‘ (you know, the one about “If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs…”) set to music, out on November 16 – but at 50-1, it seems unlikely.

Other contenders include the star of BBC1’s The Cruise, JANE McDONALD, currently at 3-1 with her version of CLIFF RICHARD‘s ‘The Twelfth Of Never‘. B*WITCHED, BILLIE and ALBERTA‘s ‘Yo-Yo Boy‘ and ALIEN VOICES‘ version of WHAM!‘s ‘Last Christmas‘ are all at 12-1.

Spice Girl MEL C and BRYAN ADAMS‘ track ‘When You’re Gone‘, out on November 16, has odds of 40-1.

We’ll be updating the bookmaker’s odds up until Christmas as well as offering ‘insider’ tips from our spiv mate at the rock and roll racetrack stables. Also watch out for details of our great Christmas sweepstakes.
