A 10cc container of "captured atmosphere" from Heaton Park is set to go for a very hefty price
The bidding for the container of “captured atmosphere” from the The Stone Roses‘ first Heaton Park gig has passed £500.
According to the eBay listing, the unique ether was collected from the crowd between performances of ‘This Is The One’ and ‘She Bangs The Drums’ and it has been the subject of furious bidding.
From a starting bid of £8.50, over 47 bids have been made and the price has now reached £567, with over one day still to go in the auction.
Seeking to prevent buyer disappointment, the seller refused to guarantee that the container preserves any musical matter from the Manchester band. “thepotman0161” clarified: “is it like a sea shell?.. will i be able to hear the roses if i open the top??…….not sure if atmosphere and sound mix at the same sort of rate ..so i can’t guarantee you will be able to hear the roses when you open the container..sorry..just want to cover myself.. i’ve got a 100 rating on e bay and would like to keep it :)”
The seller has also tried to clamp down on silly bidding, and, while he’s happy to pick up hundreds of pounds for the atmosphere, he draws the line at £20,000. He wrote: “Please….let’s not have anymore silly bids children…. It’s a real nice piece of memorabillia ..i know… but it’s not worth twenty grand!!!”
There is over 24 hours to go, so if you’re desperate to own the atmosphere, you still can…
