Stone Roses tickets attract £1 million online bid

Sold out tickets are changing hands for huge fees

A bid of over £1 million has been made on eBay for tickets for The Stone Roses‘ Heaton Park shows.

Up to 220,000 tickets, priced at £55 a pop, for all three of the band’s Manchester shows next year sold out in just over an hour when they went on sale this morning (October 21).

Many tickets were posted up by touts charging over the odds on online bidding sites as soon as they went onsale and now one ticket for the band’s second show on Saturday, June 30 has attracted a bid [pictured] of over £1 million.

The bid is likely to be a ploy by fans to stop touts charging well over the odds. A similar tactic was used when tickets for Live 8 charging over the odds, were posted online in 2005.

But many tickets on the website are genuinely going for many hundreds of pounds.

The original line-up – frontman Ian Brown, guitarist John Squire, bassist Mani and drummer Reni announced their reunion on Tuesday (October 18) for their first gig in 15 years.
