THE THIRD COMING?

The Stone Roses guitar legend goes down the Ian Brown route...

STONE ROSES guitarist JOHN SQUIRE is to release a solo album later this year.

Three years after the demise of the Seahorses, the band he formed post-Stone Roses, Squire is in the mixing stages of what is due to be his first solo album proper.

Details are still unclear on the project, but an official spokesperson for the guitarist confirmed to NME.COM that the record is due for release later in the summer. Who provides vocals is also unclear.

Rumour and counter-rumour have circulated around the reclusive star in recent years. He was rumoured to have jammed with ex-The Verve members Simon Jones and Simon Tong, and singer Duncan Baxter. However, they went on to form The Shining and no material featuring Squire was ever released.
