'I Like The Night' is being used in advertising campaign for French perfume maker Azzaro
Julian Casablancas has said the song he recorded for an Azzaro perfume advert was inspired by The Strokes‘ 2001 track ‘Take It Or Leave It’.
The frontman penned ‘I Like The Night’ specifically for the French fragrance maker’s latest campaign – scroll down and click below to see the advert, which includes a snippet of the song.
Speaking to NYmag.com’s Vulture, Casablancas said he was eager to have a “screaming part” in the track to give it a “vibe” similar to ‘Is This It”s closing track.
They were asking for a song similar to ‘Take It Or Leave It’ so it was kind of a coincidence. So voila.
Explaining the title of the song, the singer continued:
I’ve always been a night person, I just enjoy the evening, so I took that emotion and put it in a song.
Meanwhile, Casablancas’ bandmate in The Strokes Nikolai Fraiture has recently spoke about sessions for their new album, describing the studio hook-ups as like “therapy in a marriage”.
The bassist told the Daily Star that although the New York band hadn’t finished many songs, they had “many parts” which they were putting together “like puzzles”.
