The Strokes, Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme and Pearl Jam team up for charity album

Bright Eyes, The Shins and Ryan Adams also feature on 'Live From Nowhere Near You'

The Strokes, Queens Of The Stone Age‘s Josh Homme and Pearl Jam have teamed up to record an album for a homeless charity.

Bright EyesConor Oberst, Elliott Smith, Modest Mouse, The ShinsJames Mercer, Ryan Adams and Gang Of Four‘s Dave Allen also feature on the three-disc charity compilation ‘Live From Nowhere Near You: Volume Two’.

The album has been recorded to help Outside In, an organisation which helps the homeless youth, reports Pitchfork.

The compilation is set to be released in the US on July 19. A tentative release date of August 15 has been slated for the UK.

The album features a cover of Marvin Gaye‘s ‘Mercy Mercy Me’, featuring Homme, The Strokes‘ frontman Julian Casablancas, drummer Fab Moretti and Pearl Jam‘s Eddie Vedder.

The song was previously available as a B-side to The Strokes‘ single for ‘You Only Live Once’.
