Fat Man Scoop is Number One on UK singles chart...
FAT MAN SCOOP is this week’s UK Number One single (October 26), holding off stiff competition from BLUE whose ‘GUILTY’ enters at Two.
But The Strokes cannot topple Dido from the top of the album chart as second album ‘Room On Fire’ debuts at Two.
Back on the single chart, Fatman Scoop’s ‘Be Faithful’ dumps Sugababes to Five after just a week on the chart. Liberty X return at Six with ‘Jumpin’, two ahead of Eminem’s latest protégé Obie Trice, who enters at Eight with ‘Got Some Teeth’, one ahead of Hilary Duff at Nine with ‘So Yesterday’.
The next highest new entry comes at 12 for Stacie Orrico with ‘(There’s Gotta Be) More to Life’ while Mark Ronson goes in at 15 with ‘Ooh Wee’, Fabolous feat. Tamia enters at 18 with ‘Into You’, Ashanti at 19 with ‘Rain On Me’ and Ian Van Dahl at 20 with ‘I Can’t Let You Go’.
Then come a trio of indie hopefuls, starting at 30 for British Sea Power, 31 for Super Furry Animals and 32 for Damien Rice. Sheryl Crow’ cover of ‘The First Cut Is The Deepest’ debuts at 37.
While The Strokes will be disappointed they failed to shift Dido, they will be delighted to know that they are ahead of Rod Stewart whose ‘As Time Goes By – Great American – VOL 2’ enters at Four, and also ahead of Texas who see ‘Careful What You Wish For’ enter at Five.
It’s a good week for Rod. An album of some his classic tunes with The Faces and solo enters at 13.
