The Horrors, Vaccines, Tribes-featuring Chazzstock festival forced to move to one-dayer

Organisers cite 'unforeseen licensing issues' for moving summer bash dedicated to late Charles Haddon of Ou Est La Swimming Pool

Chazzstock Festival, the event taking place in memory of late Ou Est Le Swimming Pool singer Charles Haddon, has been cancelled and replaced with a one-day event

The festival was due to take place at Stanford Hall, Leicestershire from June 9-10, but will now take place at Wolverhampton Civic Hall and Wulfrun Hall on June 10 instead.

The Vaccines, The Horrors and Tribes, who were all close friends of Haddon, will still play headline sets as planned and all money raised from the event will be donated to The Prince’s Trust charity.

In a statement, Jack Bissell, organiser of Chazzstock, said they had no choice but to move the festival to a one-day event, commenting:

It’s with a heavy heart that we have to pull the festival. It’s always a struggle for a brand new festival and as a non-profit festival it has been even harder…Due to licensing restrictions and an impending festival date, it seemed a change of venue was the best possible solution.

He added: “I still hope that one day, we can do a proper Chazzstock Festival. Maybe we should go with Charlie’s original plan and do it in the field behind his parents’ house!”

Haddon committed suicide after his band performed at Pukkelpop festival in Belgium in 2010. An inquest held into the singer’s death last year heard that he had become “deeply upset” after injuring a fan while crowdsurfing at the gig.
