The Vaccines premiere kung fu-themed video for new single ‘Handsome’ – watch

Band will also hit the road for a UK tour in March

The Vaccines have unveiled their new single ‘Handsome’, alongside an accompanying video.

The martial arts-inspired piece was shot in a warehouse in Brooklyn before Christmas, and sees the band learning kung fu under the tutelage of an anthropomorphic lizard. Click below to watch

“We wanted to create a video that was a sort of bubblegum ode to cinema and, in particular, Hong Kong kung fu movies,” explained singer Justin Young. “Music to me is entertainment and escapism: we wanted the video to be an extension of that. We wanted to create another world, in which we can play aspirational, heightened versions of ourselves.”

The Vaccines are currently working on their third studio album alongside producer Dave Fridmann (Weezer, The Cribs, Tame Impala) and previously hinted at several new song titles which might feature on the LP, including ‘Dream Lover’, ‘Want You So Bad’ and ‘Denial’.

The band’s last release, the ‘Melody Calling’ EP, was recorded during their US sessions in March 2013 at Eldorado Studios in Burbank, Los Angeles, with producers John Hill (Rihanna, MIA, Santigold) and Rich Costey (Muse, Franz Ferdinand, Arctic Monkeys) at the helm.
