The Velvet Underground’s ‘Loaded’ to receive six-disc reissue

Due for release October 30

The Velvet Underground‘s 1970 album ‘Loaded’ is to receive a lush six-disc reissue.

The set – released to celebrate the LP’s 45th anniversary – will feature the original album remastered in stereo and mono, as well as previously-unreleased demos, outtakes and alternate mixes.

Also included will be two live albums. The first is a version of ‘Live at Max’s Kansas City’, which features recordings of Lou Reed’s last shows with the group, and secondly, an unreleased (though widely bootlegged) set recorded in Philadelphia in 1970

Pitchfork
reports that the compilation is due for release on October 30. It follows 45th anniversary box sets for ‘The Velvet Underground & Nico’, ‘White Light/White Heat’ and ‘The Velvet Underground’.

Last year saw the release of an early version of ‘Sweet Jane’. The song was originally released on ‘Loaded’ but this previously unreleased version was recorded at The Matrix Club in San Francisco in November 1969 and featured on the six-disc reissue of The Velvet Underground’s self-titled album.
