The Weeknd debuts new song ‘Mood Music’ at SXSW – watch

Canadian artist performed at YouTube's party at Austin, Texas festival

The Weeknd premiered a new song live while performing at SXSW on Friday.

The artist, real name Abel Tesfaye, debuted a song that is rumoured to be titled ‘Mood Music’ and produced by Chicago producer Mano, at the Austin festival on Friday (March 20) during a performance at YouTube’s SXSW party.

The Weeknd released his latest album, ‘Kiss Land’, in 2013. His most recent track, ‘Earned It’, appears on the soundtrack to the movie adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey. Material by Beyonce, The Rolling Stones, Sia and Ellie Goulding also appear on the film’s soundtrack.

Diddy recently revealed he is to return to producing, naming The Weeknd as one of the artists he will collaborate with.

In a recent Instagram post, Diddy said his return to production for artists would only last for a year. The photo saw Diddy talking to Pusha T in the studio and named Kanye West, Pusha T, A$AP Ferg, Cassie, The LOX “and many more” as the artists he would be working with.
