White Stripes star JACK WHITE has pleaded innocent to the charge of aggravated assault against him.

As a result the star will stand trial on March 9 on the charge.

The charge relates to an incident in December last year when the singer got into a fight with Von Bondies singer Jason Stollsteimer at the Detroit Magic Stick venue.

In the incident Jason says he was attacked, Jack spoke to police and insists he was acting in self-defence.

If found guilty White is looking at a maximum one-year jail sentence.
